After training at The Vidal Sassoon Academy and Moulton Brown in London, Mary Ehni began her hair color career working with Oribe in her home town of Buffalo, New York. In 1975 Mary moved to Manhattan to pursue her work with the renowned Kenneth Salon in its elegant east side mansionette. In 1990 she opened the EHNI Salon in a SoHo townhouse which became known for its intimacy, hospitality and personal care. It was a salon in the true sense of the word: where her uptown clientele gathered with downtown personalities and shared information and unpredictable conversation.

Upon closing her salon in 2001 Mary worked at the Wonderland Salon in the Meatpacking district and joined the staff at the Privé Salon in New York. She recently joined the NEXXUS SALON in Tribeca where she now happily resides.

When not coloring hair Mary raises honeybees and Black Welsh Mountain Sheep at her farm in Salem, New York.

She has an avid interest in opera, theater and contemporary art.
